IT STARTS WITH PAIN FOLLOWED BY HATE FUELED BY
I loved my parents and sibling. Who wouldn't? They were everything to me like to any other person. But, everything changed soon, it was rather quick so it wasn't like a painful long-lasting death - although it felt like a death still. My Mom and Dad are gone, they've been gone for quite some time now. It's been about 16 years by now, if my memory is correct. How they died? Oh, they decided to leave their little child on a vacation and never come back. I was left on my own, besides my younger brother who was 5 years old at the time. Maybe I slipped up, maybe I missed them, who knows. All I know is I'm on my own, besides me and my brother, and last of all my Dream Demon. I had to raise me and my brother on my own for years, I couldn't let anybody know we were loners - bastards - it was rather hard at first but I managed. The only reason I managed though was because my Dream Demon came to me not much after a month after my parents left us. To begin with, let's just say I wasn't the same without Mom and Dad. I turned cold and rather mean, some called me heartless, but I was just upset. It was a wall, I closed off everyone - even my own brother. I had nothing to look forward to, all I wanted was to save my brother. I loved him more than anything now, but each day I was growing colder and colder and he was fading away from me. It's quite sad really, if you think about it - unless you're cold like me.
One night, I arrived in a strange world once going to sleep. It was night in here too, the moon was in the night sky held high. There was clouds making way to show the moon clearly, it framed the moon quite well. All around me was mountains rising high and surrounding the place, and inside the mountains still around me was trees. Pine trees, so many of them, so tall. There was no where to run, it was all directed to the same place, where I stood. The big clear area which were inside the circle of trees. The dirt was cracked and dried, there was a cold chill in the air. It would be scary to some people, but to me it was sweet. The thing that stood out to me most however, was a girl on top of a pine tree in the distance. She had a huge-ass scythe pointed downwards as she held it with one hand with a evil grin on her face. She had a robotic wing coming out of her right shoulder blade, but that was the only one. She stood under the moon, coming out at you so brightly and beautifully. She looked at me for a minute before jumping down in front of me.
"Hello there young one, I am Luna the Winged Moon Reaper. I am your Dream Demon, I have arrived from another world unknown to you except at night. As you might guess, the Dream World. I have stumbled upon you it seems, maybe on purpose or maybe on accident. Now, I will take you as my Vessel." She pointed her scythe at me threateningly, however I was not phased. "Vessel? Tell me more, I might be able to help." I replied back with a cold gaze. "You seem not afraid of me, that is a first my dear child. However, do not take me for granted, I can sense the tiny bit of fear in your heart. It will soon make your skin crawl and terrorize your whole being. Now, as for being my Vessel... to get to your world, reality, I need to take over your body. We will become one, although we are already." She said as she adjusted her scythe outwards with one delicate hand. "It seems interesting," I ignored the talk about fear because I did not want it to bother me, "What do you mean we are already one?" Luna sighed and then smirked, "You know so little, I guess I must inform you before I begin the procedure." She looked up at the sky, "We are already one because you have entered my Dream. My Dream, where I am stronger and nothing can hurt me. Once you visit me and my Dream then you will be stuck with visiting this dream, over and over and over again - whether you like it or not."
"So, you might as well become my Vessel instead of trying to fight and get rid of me and this dream." She looked at me with a threatening look. "Last question," Luna looked at me quite impatiently, I wouldn't be surprised if she ran at me before I could talk or finish talking. But I stood my ground, I would not be phased by this weirdo. "What happens if I let myself be your Vessel?" Luna laughed coldheartedly, "If? If? You have no choice - but still - I will be able to see what you see, I can enter your thoughts and if I want to I can take you over completely and control you. Now come here!" She took a step forward and I smirked, she stopped and looked at me with little shock - but still shock. "Alright, this whole thing seems fun so I'll join in. I'll be your Vessel, but you'll have to help me take care of myself and my brother. We're dying, our parents left us." Luna glared at me, "You have feelings for someone?" I shook my head, I had to be more careful with my words - I was playing her like a fool just a minute ago. "No! It's just--" I was frantic, I loved my brother at this point. Luna just nodded hastily, "Whoever your brother is, do not let him get in my way." I just nodded, she sounded hateful as ever and I cringed a tiny bit there but it didn't matter. "I won't Luna. ... by the way, what do you wish to accomplish by coming into the real world?" Luna ran at me - I did not finch, cringe or cry - and then she smirked, "To get revenge on who imprisoned me in my own Dream."
Me and Luna bonded quickly, we got along quite well and she told me what I needed to do to get through life. I helped her with some stuff as well, since she didn't know everything about the new world. Sadly, me and my brother distanced after I got Luna. But at least I had a new friend, Luna wouldn't consider it that though. Luna did do well to keep me and my brother alive, it was sweet for her to help - especially with my brother. "Do you have any Dreams Layla?" Luna asked one day, I had never really thought about dreams so it took a minute for me to answer. "Dreams... Not really, I lost any sight of dreams when I lost my family." I answered truthfully - it's not like I could lie I didn't even want to. "Good. If something happens to me it won't matter because you won't have any dreams to be crushed. You are okay with that aren't you? I've told you before I'm willing to die to get revenge, and I'll take you along with me if I have to." I just nodded, I understood. "I'm okay with it. Don't worry about me." I said back - very understanding-like - before she replied quite hatefully, "And you better not get any dreams either, as long as you have me you have no dreams and you are close to nobody!" I nodded, who would want to be close with me anyways?
Then came the day when me and Luna came into our first Day Dream with another Demon and Vessel. "Hahaha! We found another one!" Said the Bat-Like Dream Demon and the Vessel just nodded. "What is your business foolish one?" Luna's voice rang out loud and angrily in the dark cave our dream was in. "We're just finding some entertainment!" Said the Dream Demon as they both laughed. "What the hell are you snickering about? What kind of entertainment?" The Dream Demon laughed some more, "What else besides some torture entertainment?" He said and lunged at Luna. "You fool!" Luna easily dodged, with eyes closed as she smirked. When he turned around she was already in his face, and the Vessel yelled out but it was to late. Luna had slashed him about 10 times in a measly few seconds, him disappearing and the Vessel falling over. "That's what the damned Demon gets." Luna said angrily, then looked at me. "You did well to stay back." I just nodded, not even bothering to look at the foolish vessel. "That was clever of that Demon to do, putting us in a Day Dream. I had thought about it a couple times but never tried to do it. Now I see it's the only way to get to the one who imprisoned me. That includes more fighting and more killing, I don't care who the hell they are their all going to die if they come around me!"
Ever since then Luna has been putting me in all kinds of Day Dreams, killing any Dream Demon that set foot into our territory - 30 Meters around us - believing that one of them could be the one who imprisoned her. I asked her about it one day, I was quite confused and I hate being confused. "Luna, how do you not know who trapped you?" Luna quickly answered, "I never saw their face, they were to quick and kept a hood up. They never talked, except once... but I don't remember what they sounded like, if it was a boy or a girl..." I had stopped at the escalator in the store to talk, in my head of course. "What did theysay to you exactly?" I asked, I wanted to learn more about Luna but had to be careful about it. "They didn't talk until the imprisonment came, and when that time came they said... some kind of chant... 'You've done enough damage you reckless demon don't you think? Now let us watch you dissolve into the dark and go in the moon to sink. It won't take long just give us a second so here we go with just a wink. You're existence is gone there's no more you it's all written down in invisible ink.' It was something like that." She seems sad and rather angry at the same time, I didn't want to get barked at by her so I decided to leave it alone.
Luna even went down right nasty a few times, killing cute and innocent-looking Dream Demons. I just watched her though, I didn't question her ways. She would have jumped down my throat if I said something, so I just kept quiet as she finished them off quickly. I was supposed to feel sad about them dying and angry at the killer - Luna - you say? Wrong. "I have no feelings. I feel nothing but emptiness inside. Even when I'm around my brother, nothing inside me glows or flares out. I guess when I was left by my parents my feelings left with them." I said with my bored-like tone, and Luna nodded. She had asked me in a Day Dream after she killed one of the little ones. "Good, let us plan to keep it that way. As long as you are as heartless as me - and find no sadness or anger while I kill all these Demons off - then we'll be safe and sound." I nodded to her, and we had that agreement set and planned from then on. I always had a feeling it was already set there and done before we even talked about that. But I didn't say anything, as always.
I heard of a cousin of ours once - her name was Lolla - and I decided maybe she could help. I was about 14 years old at the time. I found the identity of her house and when we got there I knew we shouldn't. There was yelling and screaming and shadows were moving in the house. A man figure abusing a woman figure, and a little girl crying on the floor yelling for him to stop. It wasn't safe, I hoped to god it wasn't Lolla but I knew it was, especially when I heard the Dad yell for Lolla to shut up. I wanted to help but what could I do? I wasn't all big and bad, I couldn't save the little endangered princess, so I just walked away. I know it was cruel, I didn't even tell anybody, but what can I say? You got to survive on your own, I didn't want to get mixed up in anything that wasn't meant for me. Or that's what Luna told me anyways, sometimes I think back to that, and wonder if I should feel bad for ditching part of the family like that. But I never do.
It was night - in our Dreams - we were just sitting there. Luna was on top of her pine tree, in front of the moon which glowed bright - she seemed refreshed after she would stand there and take in the light. "Luna, you said something about the moon... when you was telling me about the Demon who imprisoned you. In the little chant they told you before you were imprisoned, something about going into the moon. What does that mean?... You weren't imprisoned--" Luna looked down at me quickly at that last sentence as she quickly interrupted, "imprisoned in the moon?" she finished after I stopped to let her speak. I just nodded, at least she hadn't yelled at me. She jumped off her perch and walked up to me, I was sitting on a boulder in the middle of the clearing where I usually stayed. "You're smarter than I thought. I didn't think it would be quite natural for you to figure it out so quickly." She said looking me up and down, she was in a rather hushed voice. "Yes, by now you should know... I was imprisoned in the Moon. The moon up there, in this dream... in my dream." Luna looked down with eyes closed, going quiet as if giving me a moment to speak for the first time ever.
"Why don't you hate that moon now Luna?" was my first question that I shot at her. She opened her eyes abruptly and looked at me angrily, "Hate the moon that gives me strength? Hate the moon in my dream world? What the hell are you thinking Layla?!" I went to say something in defense but she grabbed me by my shirt and lifted me off the boulder. "Why would I hate the Moon? A Winged Moon Reaper would never blame the Moon that she is a part of, a Dream Demon would never blame their surroundings of their little Dream World. You have nerve Layla." I looked at her calmly, "Why do I ask that? Because you was imprisoned in the moon, the moon is what kept you hidden. Why do you not hate the moon for keeping you locked up there for the many countless years you were up there?" Luna looked at me angrily, "I was up there for about 5 to 7 years... Layla, the moon has nothing to do with it. It may have been what was keeping me captive but it was not the Moon's fault I was sent up there in the first place. So there comes the blame upon the Demon who made that incident happen In the first place. Do you understand?"
I looked at the moon then looked back at her, "I--" Luna threw me down roughly and started walking away, I rolled across the ground a couple feet and looked up at her. "Time for your detention." She said, looked back at me and pointed her flat palm at me. Trees grew around me and trapped me in a 6 foot radius free room. I got up and tried to move the pine tree leaves out of my way to see, but the wind blew and my hand was forced out by the pressure. Trying to look without moving the tree leaves aside was pointless, all I could see was the sky and barely of that. I gave up after awhile and sat down, I needed time to think. After awhile I heard the quiet muttering of Luna, but couldn't make out anything she was saying - it was in some other type of language. I listened to it until the dream went away, declaring morning.
"You get the silent treatment for the rest of the week, unless you have something extremely important to say then do not try to make conversation with me." Luna said quickly after waking up before her voice disappeared in my mind. I went without her for awhile, I was quieter than usual but my Brother didn't notice. That night when I appeared in the dream I was still caged, I was not surprised - she said a week's silent treatment so I'm guessing a week of solitary confinement as well. The third night I tried to talk to her, calling out her name. But the wind blew harshly every time I talked, the howling noises arriving with it driving out my desperate cries. I gave up after awhile, and went on with it. Luna was sure not to talk to me, and I was sure not to talk to her as well. I didn't like the silence between us - or the confinement she had given me in her dream - but I had to deal with it. It was punishment after all, I was to careless.
The 5th day of punishment. I was in reality - sitting on a bench doing nothing - when a random guy came up to me. He sat down and got in my face, then started laughing. "I'm going to put out the Day Dream now." I heard Luna's voice, I was going to ask her if I was going to be trapped still but she yelled at me to hurry so we opened it together. Of course, I was still trapped. Trying to move the leaves I called out for her, "Luna!" The wind pushed, shoved, and howled, pushing me back in my prison as well as drowning me out. "Luna..." I sat down again and listened to Luna and the other two talk. "Keeping your vessel in a cage like that? Pitiful, do you really fight that much? Can't stand to see her face in your dream?" I looked down, Luna cared for nobody so it was probably true. "It's not that. She is being punished for a terrible deed. There is nothing wrong with her, why do you ask? It is none of your business, do you not agree?" Luna answered calmly. "Ha, I don't believe that. You hate her damn guts don't you?" He said, he was taunting Luna. It wouldn't work though. "Shut up! You know of nothing, you fool!" I perked up a little, did she sound angry, over me? "Ahh, so you do like her?" He laughed again, "Do you?" I heard Luna's position shift, she was about to attack. "I do not hate her nor like her, it is as simple as that. We are just Vessel and Dream Demon, we're helping each other out on a quest." Luna said, she was becoming calm again - but for how long?
"So you're just using her? That's pretty low isn't it? What do you think, Adam?" I realized it was the Dream Demon that had been talking the whole time. "I am not using her! Shut up! You know nothing!" Luna basically screamed, I heard a woosh and the clinging of metal. So, the Dream Demon had a weapon as well. "Let's see how much you like her then!" I heard footsteps running towards me, were they aiming towards me? Well Luna wouldn't follow, she wouldn't care if I died. "Get away from her you Bastard!" I went wide-eyed that night, a pain went in my chest. I heard a slash and a coughing sound, a guy screaming and then silence. I stared straight out for awhile, and then the trees were randomly cut down to where I could see. Looking up I saw Luna looking down at me angrily. "I know... I caused you trouble..." I said looking down, but then I saw a hand. I looked up quickly and saw Luna's half-smile and out-stretched hand. I took it and she helped me up, "Am I out of my punishment?" I asked hopefully. "For now young one." I didn't say anything about her defending me so quickly, I still wonder if she actually cares about me.
I was laying on my bed - thinking about my life - when I randomly started asking Luna some questions. "Luna, why do you only have one wing?" I asked, I always wondered about it. "Did you even have one in the first place? Did it get broken off in a battle? When you got cast off to the moon was it lost, like my parents and feelings were?" I stopped to give Luna some time and it wasn't long before she answered me. "I had another one once, yes. But, after a year of being on the moon it was lost." I looked up at the light - which was turned off - and imagined it as the moon. "What do you mean lost?" I asked as I looked blankly at the lightbulb. "It just... crumbled away and laid on the moon, destroyed and broken. I don't know why, but it happened." The lightbulb wasn't a moon, it was a lightbulb. "Wouldn't it come back though? I mean, you're back in your real dream, where your stronger. Shouldn't it have been healed?" I looked over to my right - where broken window was - staring blankly at the darkness. "It should have been, but it didn't. It is indeed something strange, something I may never figure out." She said and then sighed, "But do not worry, it does not bother me any longer." I nodded and didn't ask anymore about the wing, there was no more to be said about it.
The people finally knew of the little bastards running around their village, so it was time for us to depart from this old cooped up town. Luna led us off, we was going to whatever town Luna saw fit for us. I wonder what the old dirtbags at the village said when they got to our house and saw it was empty, I wonder what their expressions were - whatever it was it must have been priceless. I was 16 by now, and my brother was 14. He would complain a lot and would want to stay at every town we stopped at, but Luna kept leading us on saying the town wasn't right. One day, he had demanded me stay at a nice little small town, he said I was leading us wrong and had no idea what I was doing. Luna - for the first time ever - took control right then. ""Now listen here little kid, we're going my way whether you like it or not. Now, how I find it is you can stay here - but remember you can't survive one day without me - so either stay here and die or come on and live. I'm going ahead so make your decision." She didn't face him at all, so he couldn't see her special demon eyes. He gulped - I think he's afraid of me now - and nodded, "Alright, alright, I'm coming. What happened to your voice anyways?" I was back to my regular self, I had control. "Just come on little bro, we'll get to a good town soon."
We got to a town Luna liked rather quickly after that incident. He smiled, he smiled at me and very happy-like to. Yet, I didn't smile back at him. He looked at me once and his smile faded, it was my fault he became gloomy. "Well, at least we're here." I said looking into the town. "Yeah!" He said and burst off, I followed at my own pace. We found a house, or Luna did anyways. It was a good house - it was small, broken down and worn out - but it was still a good house. My brother fixed it up mostly, as best as he could. Putting the furniture that came with it in a good place and getting the dust off everything. There was no technology still, but it was okay. "We have each other, who needs games and tv?" He said before running off, I watched him as he sped off to his newly claimed room. I went to mine and we were settled in. Now, our objective was school. Luna didn't want me to go to school - she didn't like the school before - but I told her I had to and she brushed the subject off with a 'whatever'. The first day I started school I was quiet and nobody talked to me, Luna was glad about that. Nobody talked to the new girl - me - and I didn't talk to anybody else. Until - a couple weeks later.
The class - 11th Grade - was going to have lunch outside. I went outside and sat down with my lunch, I was about to eat when somebody ran up and told me to follow before running off. I stayed put for a minute, they came back up and said I had to come - it was important. I watched her get random people to follow her, she was coming my way again when I got up and went her way. She brightened up and went to her left, and I followed. Luna questioned me following her, and I told her I wanted to get her to shut up, and she just brushed it off in a whatever-kind-of-way. I followed the girl out of the High School grounds and onto the College grounds, they were talking about being on the Adult grounds and being all cool. I decided to go back, and went onto other grounds. "LAYLA!!! We're on little kids grounds now!!" Luna yelled at me, I looked around and a bunch of Middle Schoolers ran around. "Not exactly little kids but--" I saw something flashing really fast out of the corner of my eye and looked. There was a 12-year old girl sitting with a boy, the girl was desperately waving for someone, supposedly me, to come over. "Don't go Layla, turn the other way." Luna said, the girl kept motioning and I started my way towards her.
"Layla! Don't! We can't make any friends! We've gone so long! We've gotten so far! Don't let it all go now!" Luna yelled at me, trying to get me to stop. "I'm not going to make friends with her. I promise, nobody can get close to me - trust me." I said as I finally reached her, I nodded to her - as I had my plate in my hands so couldn't wave. "I'm Amy! Nice to meet you, what's your name?" I looked at her, was she really talking to me? Was she really trying to be friendly? "Layla, my name is Layla." I said boredly. "Layla... Oh so it is you! You look so much like her... Sit down, please, sit down!" Amy insisted, Luna told me not to but I sit anyways. "Look like who Amy?" I asked, did she know me from somewhere, did I have a twin? "Lolla, my old friend that moved away awhile ago. She said she had a cousin named Layla who looked like you. She warned me of you coming over here sometime, so I've been looking out for you! It's so nice to meet you~" Amy smiled and laughed, talking to me as if she had known me her whole life. "Amy... you're sounding like a Stalker, and like you're in love with her. By the way I'm Aleca, just call me Alec."
The boy who was sitting down with Amy had spoken, "Aleca?" I asked with eyebrows raised, it sounded like a girl name - what kind of parents named their son Aleca? "J-just Alec, alright, call me Alec." I nodded at Alec who had spoken. "Alright Alec, Amy, I better be getting back to my school." I said and tried to fast walk away before they could say something. "See ya again soon Layla!" Called out Amy and I cringed, she wanted to make friends with me... "You're being punished for disobeying me tonight." Luna said, and I was indeed punished that night - in solitary confinement. I thought about a lot that night, I don't know why I went over there. I don't know why I let them talk to me, or why I sit down. But it was true, I didn't need friends, so I wouldn't let myself do this next time I see them. The next few days I went to school and ignored the Junior High School as much as I could. Then, one day, Amy snuck over to my grounds at lunch. "Hey Layla! Why haven't you been visiting us? I know you have to sneak over but it's worth it isn't it?" She said questioningly. I tried to ignore her at first but she kept talking, "Kid, why do you talk to me? It's not wise... I'm trouble." I said, trying to drive the annoying brat away. "I just wanna be friends, you seem really cool. And... you remind me of Lolla. I don't care how much trouble you are, I'm sticking by your side like glue buddies!" I looked at her strangely as she ran off to her grounds.
The next two weeks Amy had been visiting me on my grounds illegally, Luna would punish me for even speaking one word to her. When Amy had not stopped by for a week, Luna was happy and decided to give me a talk. "Stop talking to her, for your own good. We can't be making friends here, I'll make you move out of this Village if I have to. I just hope she won't be coming back." She would tell me as I was in my prison, I sadly couldn't talk back. "If you keep this up then you won't be happy with me, understand?" I just nodded, it was hard to ignore the kid though... but that shouldn't be the issue with me, I had this weird feeling in my heart telling me to speak with her. "I understand..." I said but of course the wind howled and blocked it out. "I won't talk to her anymore..." I hugged my knees and buried my face into them. Luna was right, I couldn't make friends, especially with a little kid. What was I doing? I was betraying Luna...
That next day, Amy came over and started speaking to me. Luna was angry, "What the hell does she think she's doing? Leaving for a week then coming back and talking to you again!" I ignored Amy, eating my lunch and not even looking at her. Amy kept talking and then mentioned something about how she had made a new friend named Tessa when going on a trip to Sound to Sea. "You can make friends with her to, come on! She sits at the table with me, we're in the same grade - Haha!!!" I looked at her for a minute as Luna told me not to say anything to her, "I don't need any friends." I said and continued to eat my lunch. "Everybody needs friends Layla!" She insisted and I just shook my head. "It's better to be alone, it is for me anyways." Amy looked at me confused, "Why do you want to be alone? Friends are such a great thing to have.." I shook my head again, man this kid was annoying. "Well, I'll see you after school! Then you can meet Tessa! I'll find you at the leaving school area!" She ran off before I could say anything else.
Later that day, I was starting to walk home, Amy ran up in front of me and blocked my path. "Hey, there you are! Tessa! Alec!! Come on over! I found Layla!" She yelled and Tessa ran over here quite quickly - Alec took his time. "So this is Layla, I've heard about you." Tessa said looking me up and down, "Nice to meet ya, I'm Tessa! Why don't I see you any? Amy says you're friends with her." I looked at Amy then at Tessa, "I'm at the High School." Tessa nodded then froze, looking at Amy she raised her eyebrows "How'd you make friends with a High Schooler?" Amy laughed fullheartedly, "She snuck over to the grounds and I noticed that she looked like Lolla, I confused her with Lolla actually, and I got her to come over at the table me and Alec were sitting at. We've been talking ever since!" I looked at her quietly, "Well, hope to hang out with you more Layla, I gotta go!" Tessa said and ran off. I started walking away, going around Amy, but she went beside me and started walking beside me. "Hey, why are you walking home alone?" Alec just walked away.
"Where's your parents?" She asked looking around, "Isn't it normal for someone to walk home alone?" I asked looking straight ahead. "Well, my parents come to get me and my other siblings to walk together." Amy said proudly. "Lucky you, well, you better go back because your parents might be here." I said, trying to drive her away. "My parents will be here in another 5 minutes, so I wanna talk to you." I kept walking, maybe if I got far enough she would run back. "So, do you have any siblings?" Amy asked, fast-walking to keep up with me. "I have one, but let us not talk about him." I said, I didn't like talking about anybody I knew really. "Oh, okay, well I have 10 other siblings! I'm the oldest, I'm 12!" I nodded and kept walking, making sure not to look at her. "I would hate having so many other siblings." I said sighing, "It's been about 5 minutes you should go now." Amy nodded and ran off, "See ya again later Layla!!"
Amy kept talking to me everytime she could, school grounds and leaving area. One day, I actually got out of the school before she could meet up with me at the leaving area. I got home before she could find me, and I was relieved. Then, I realized we needed food, so I went on my way to the store. On my way, Amy popped up in front of me greeting me happily. "Where were you today? I understand not seeing you at the school grounds, but what happened to seeing you at the leaving area?" Amy asked cocking her head. "I guess you missed me." I said calmly back as Alec came to me left and Tessa to my right. "Well, I got someone I want ya to meet!" She motioned behind me for someone to come, and a shy girl came up smiling nervously. "Hi, I-I'm Paige." She said stuttering and speaking very low. "Layla." I said, introducing myself as well. She nodded and I started walking away, "I better be getting too the store. Bye."
Amy always made sure to come over to see me whenever I was on School Grounds and after school at the leaving area, like always. She was so friendly, I told myself she was not my friend but at some points I would doubt myself. Then, one day, Amy made the mistake of coming over at the Grounds. I wished she had stayed away, I wished she had never met me, or none of this would have ever happened. When had come over, Luna gasped and then growled angrily. Amy came up and greeted me, "I'm opening the Day Dream now! She has a Dream Demon!" I went wide-eyed, before I could say anything to Amy - Who had saw my face and asked what was wrong - the Day Dream had been opened. I had been punished at that time, so I was in my little prison. I jumped up off the ground and tried to get myself through the branches, my hands scratching and scrambling through the branches and pine needles as I yelled out for Luna, "Luna! Stop this!" I yelled, my hands were blown back and I saw scratches on my hands where the pine needles had stuck into me. I heard Amy's voice with a hint of fear: "PrimRose, where are we?" I yelled for Amy next, "Amy! Run! Please! Get out of there, with Prim!" But the howling of the wind cut me off as always. Luna's voice came after that,
"This is my Dream World, I have opened a Day Dream which has locked you in. You won't be in here for long though, your little Demon seems pathetic." I stepped back a few steps and then ran at the trees, my hands out to try and push the branches aside to escape. When I hit the tree my hands reach through, wiping the branches out of the way as best as they could. I felt my right hand get out of the tree branches, but I heard Luna, "Get out of my way!" and I was blown back forcefully as I hit the trees behind me. I fell to the ground and rose up in a sitting position. "Luna! Stop this nonsense!" I stopped and listened for Amy's dream demon, maybe it was a bad dream demon. I wouldn't mind the dream demon to die if it was planning to hurt Amy, but if it was cute, fragile, sweet, and innocent... they didn't deserve to die. I knew it was harsh, to think of only Amy's dream demon, but I couldn't help it. I was... warming up to Amy. "It'll be okay Amy, don't worry." Said a sweet, soft voice. I went wide-eyed, this was such a cruel world. Why, why, why, I don't know why, I wished this didn't happen, I wish I had never met her... I wish I had never gotten close to her, that way I wouldn't care if she didn't die.
"Luna! Please stop! Don't hurt her! I beg of you!" I heard Luna shift into her attack position and start running, "Luna, stop it! Don't hurt her, she doesn't deserve this! Don't do it, for my sake!" She couldn't hear me, she was going to kill Prim. "DON'T!!!!!!!!!" I heard the footsteps stop, "Why are you interfering?" I looked up at the sky, what I could see of it anyways. So she could hear me all this time.. "I... I don't know.. Just... don't hurt her..." I heard that scythe of hers drop, "Very well then." Footsteps and someone being punched and falling over, "Am-!" Then another punch and Prim falling over. She had knocked them out. The scythe was picked up and footsteps were coming at me, slow and steady footsteps. "You've done it now Layla." One woosh and slash and the trees were cut down. "I am no longer you Dream Demon." She said and started walking away. "W-what?" I said as I went wide-eyed, I was starting to shake... was this what tears were? "Y-you can't do that..." Luna nodded, "Oh yes I can, goodbye Layla." I got up slowly and turned to see her, I saw her walking away. "No! Luna! Don't! Don't leave me!" I yelled as I started running towards her. "I can't go on without you!" She stopped and when I got right up to her she turned around and threw her arm out towards me, and the wind blew at me and I flew back about 20 feet and rolled. "Leave me alone, you don't need me anymore Layla and I don't need you. You are no use to me anymore, farewell."
I got back up with no problem, "I do need you! You've help me through so much! I can still help you, you can still use me!" I yelled running at her again, "You can't leave me! We've been through so much, and now your just gonna go and walk away like that! Just because of one simple Dream Demon? That's not right, it's not fair! I still need you!" She was still standing there and she made me fly back once again, her eyes cold and hateful. "You care for her!" She rolled her eyes looking at the sky as she put a finger to her lip and sounded dramatic: "Oh Amy! Don't kill Amy, Don't kill Prim! She's my friend, oh no!" She mocked me and spat at the ground in front of me. "You don't need me, you have Amy now. She's your friend, right? You have disobeyed me, now you must go." I got up and stood there for a minute before running again, "I won't let you leave me... I'll keep going until you stay... I do need you... and I want you... She's not my frie-" She glared at me, and when I reach her she picked me up by the shirt, "Don't try to deny it, you care for her or you would have been fine with letting me kill her demon." I shook my head, "I told myself she wasn't my friend... I won't disobey you again... just... don't leave me... because you're my real friend Luna... that I'm definitely sure of." I grabbed her arms and looked into her eyes. Then she threw me down roughly and looked away.
"Please don't leave me..." I said and she looked at me with cold, heartless eyes. "You will leave Amy within 5 years." I went wide-eyed, "L-leave?" Luna nodded, "That's what I said, you will leave her within 5 years. You will be 23 at that time, do you understand me right now Layla? If you do not leave in 5 years she will be put into immediate danger." I nodded, I understood. "You will leave, within that 5 year time period you will not get any closer to Amy, you will not get close to anyone else, whether it's Tessa, Aleca, or Paige, I will not hurt Amy or PrimRose within the 5 years, however you will not get in my way with killing another demon, I don't care if it's another one of Amy's friends demons, and you will never disobey me again. If you break any of these rules, I will leave you, and don't think I won't. Do you understand me? Do we have a deal here? You have 10 seconds to reply and make your decision." I nodded in 3 seconds flat and she turned around and started walking away. Everything started fading in a wispy aura, "Alright, I will see you again in your dreams tonight. You got lucky this time, but you won't again. I'm only going to let it slide this once. You will also be under punishment one more time for now. It will be for a week." Then everything went back, we was in reality. Amy looked at me blankly, "I will see you later... bye..." She walked off slowly.
Amy didn't come to visit after that, until it was about a week later. I was in class and they were introducing the School President - I didn't know why since it was in the middle of the year, why didn't they show her at the beginning of the year? - she came in and looked at us. "Hello young students," Although we could clearly tell she was basically the same age as us, "I am your Class President. It is nice to meet you all." We all nodded, she glared at someone who seemed to be sleeping. Taking a ruler off the teachers desk she went over and slapped it on their hand, he yelped and took his red hand away from her grasp. "Pay attention now." She said as she walked back up to the board, setting the ruler down she picked up some chalk and started writing. My name is Suzume, your School Captain for this 12th Grade Year. She put the chalk down and looked around, "Any questions?" Nobody seemed to have any questions, or maybe they were to afraid to ask anything. "Good, I don't feel like explaining something so simple." She said, "Now, as School President, I will be known to the while High School Building, mostly the 12th Grade Classes. I will treat you with respect, but you must treat me with respect back. I expect each of you to behave and do your work and follow all school rules. Be nice and play fair, got it?" The classroom was quiet and she snatched the ruler off the desk and pointed it towards me, probably because of my regular 'whatever' expression. "Got it?" She asked, eyebrows raised at me. "Got it." I said, although she could tell I didn't mean it. "Don't let her boss you around, alright Layla?" I just nodded as Suzume walked away.
That same day, Amy was talking to me at the leaving area, it was the first time we had converse since that incident. "I've been meaning to ask Layla, what's your dreams?" She asked, I looked at her and stopped in my tracks. "Dreams..?" I asked and looked down. "Yeah, Dreams. Mine are to become a Fashion Designer!" She said happily, "My dreams... I don't really have any. I've never really thought about it, and when I do think about it I always brush it off. I'd rather not have any dreams, and I'd like to keep it that way." I said as my answer, Amy looked at me sadly. "Oh, that must suck. Well, I'm sure you'll find your dreams soon! Then you can live them through and make it happen! I hope it comes soon, your going into college soon right?" She laughed happily and then ran off to her family. "Dreams..." I looked down at the ground, "We're not carrying along any dreams now, don't even think about it Layla. You are and will stay forever dreamless." I nodded, "You're right, I don't need dreams, like I don't need a family." I cringed as I looked back as Amy's family walked off, Amy swinging by holding her Mom' and Dad's hands. She was so childish, why was I even... no, I wasn't friends with her!
I was walking down the hall at school when I saw Suzume looking at all the people pass quite intently. I was going to try and avoid her, so I went and didn't even look at her. Out of the corner of my eye, however, I saw her look at me. She went to come to me, as she took a step forward, but a girl came up and hugged her from behind. "Hey Suzume! What are you up to now-a-days?" Suzume looked up and smiled, actually smiled. "Hey Mayrin, I'm busy - being School President and all. Where have you been, and what are you up to?" Mayrin let go and put a finger to her lip, "I've been trying to live out my dream~" I looked up, stopped, and looked at them both. "The dream to become an artist... I've been trying hard to paint good stuff, but I realized sometimes you gotta let go and relax to paint whatevers on your mind. And usually, the stuff on my mind that I draw while being out of there, are my best pieces of art!" She giggled and Suzume nodded, "I don't believe I could ever relax and let go to do whatever such as you Mayrin. I can't, I must do everything right and try my hardest to become a president." Mayrin looked down, "That sounds hard, it must be tough being a president." Suzume nodded, "Yes indeed, your countries counting on you and you want to do the right thing, the thing that's best for them." Mayrin nodded in agreement, "You'd be an awesome president Suzume! I believe you can!" I walked away, I didn't want to hear anymore about dreams, dreams I couldn't have.
I went around the corner and saw the coffee machine, and I saw a group of kids sitting around having fun drinking bitter coffee, regular coffee, sweet coffee, hanging out and just doing whatever. I went to walk past them and they started muttering to themselves. One bravely came up and handed me a can, I looked at it - it was the black bitter kind. "Try it, you seem like the type of girl who'd like this type of coffee. It's bitter, like you!!" They started laughing, I took the drink and looked at it. "Ain't ya ever had coffee?" They started laughing again, I took both my hands on it and drank a sip. "That's good, it is bitter, I like it." They looked at me and one put some money in the machine and handed me a full can as the guy that gave me a taste took his drink back. "Here ya go, you can have it." I looked at it and then at him, he brought it out more and I took it and nodded. "Bye!" They all yelled as I walked away, "Luna.. do you like Black Coffee?" I asked, I heard her laughing. "It's pretty good~ The sweet coffee is terrible, way to sweet for me. Black and bitter is my style, it's like my heart. Same with you probably, that's why you like it, not many people like it that way. They're to goody goody and like the sweet kind better, bleh..." I nodded, maybe my heart was black and bitter like this coffee.
I guess it was my turn to get a new friend to the group, but to the wrong group it seems. They happened to be the twins, the Insane's. How it happened wasn't rather good, let me tell you about it. I was walking up the street and they both randomly came up to each side of me. "Hi there! What's your name?" I looked at the one who had spoken, at my left. "It's polite to say your own name first before asking another's isn't it?" I said as I looked ahead to concentrate on walking to get my brother. "Oh! Sorry! I'm In!" Said the one on my left, In. "And I'm Sane!" Said the one to my right, smiling widely. "And we're known as" "the Insane Ones!" I kept an eye on the road, "I can see why." I said quietly, "Yeah, weird names, we know. But.. Hey! Do you know anybody named Tessa?" I looked at In quickly. "Yes, why?" Sane looked at me, "You a friend?" I shook my head, "Never..." They both trilled happily, "Good! Well we might as well tell you," In looked at Sane to finish her sentence, and Sane made sure to. "we have a bone to pick with her!" I looked at Sane, "What did she do?" I asked, Tessa was going to get hurt? "Well, she was riding her new bicycle I heard her bragging about in school, right?" I nodded, "She came riding by, not even trying to swerve out of our way she almost ran over us!" I looked at Sane, "Yes, but you are safe aren't you?" They both nodded, "But still! When we dodged, barely, our most prized possessions came out of our bags," In looked at Sane again. "and was dumped in the mud from that rainy day!" Sane finished once again. "What are your prized possessions?" I asked,I didn't really hear much about prized possessions. In got out a small plastic package, opening it up she got out a weed and put it in her mouth. "Anyways, my locket of me and my sister, Sane here, was thrown into the mud."
She took our her locket and rubbed the gold shell. "Was the picture damaged?" I asked, maybe I could fix this. "Well... no..." She said looking down sheepishly, "Then are you sure it's a big deal? You seemed to have washed the rest of the locket off, and it doesn't seemed damaged." Sane popped into our conversation, holding up a teddy bear. "This was my prized possession that got knocked into the mud!" I looked at it, how old was she again? "It looks fine to me, I'm guessing you washed it? If you did, then it should be fine, as long as your careful." Sane looked down, "True..." She said. "So, I gotta go." I said, starting to walk away. "Hey! You should join our group!" I looked back at her, "What group? Whose in it?" In and Sane just looked at me, "Just us..." I sighed and looked at them, "I don't have a group and don't want one." I started on my walk again but they ran up. "Do you know of a good group? We're outcasts, we need some friends!" I looked at them and turned to my right, the playground was there. "Go look in there, go talk to her." I pointed to someone, that someone happened to the President of the School. They both went over and started talking to her, "Good luck..." I said and walked away. "Why the hell did you 'save' Tessa?" I shook my head, "I don't know. I don't like Tessa, I don't like anyone. But that doesn't mean somebody should get hurt." Luna sighed and then chuckled, "Nice excuse, but do remember you've watched me kill thousands of Dream Demons and never said a thing about it." I looked down and shook my head, "You said yourself, you didn't want any human involved.." Luna laughed, "You could have left it be, Amy would have saved her. I don't care if it's human hurting humans! What can little twins do anyways, it's not like anyone could have gotten hurt. Next time, just let it be, alright?" I nodded, "Alright..."
Not long after that I saw In, Sane, and Suzume walking around. In and Sane seemed to be following Suzume like little puppies, however I did not see Mayrin. I guessed they didn't ask her to join yet, unless she had better things to do then join a group. It wasn't supposed to be my business though. While walking through the halls, seeing their little group, somebody randomly swerved around me quite easily. I turned and stopped, seeing a girl looking at me. "I'm sorry, but you must watch out too." I just looked at her, then she walked away. I saw her swerve out on Sane's way to, and Sane spun around and grabbed her hand. "What's your name?" Sane looked at her and cocked her head, she just looked at her blankly. I walked away after that, before hearing her name or any more of the conversation. "Good for you, we don't need to be in other people's business Layla. I'm proud of you, you're even staying away from In and Sane, and not visiting Amy as much either." Luna said to me, I just nodded. "I wish to please you and not disobey you." I said as I rounded the corner and got to my locker. "Good, keep this up Layla." Then, I heard hiccupping, right after the hiccup was a giggle followed by another hiccup and giggle.
I looked over and saw a girl jumping when she hiccupped and vibrating when she giggled. Everybody seemed used to it, I guess she wasn't that new. She went to a few lockers beside me and opened it, the locker vibrating once before she grabbed some books and looked at me. I looked back at my locker but she had saw me looking at her, she came up and smiled. "Hi! I'm hiccup! hahaha, Miranda! What's your name hiccup! hahaha!" I looked at her boredly as she laughed and hiccupped before replying, "Layla. I got to go to class now." I said as I walked away. "Alright! Byee hiccup! hahahaha, see ya later! hiccup hahaha, maybe!" I shook my head, Luna laughed and I looked back. Sane had gone up to her and was talking to her, then Miranda randomly started laughing very loudly, before a hiccup caught her and I saw her nodding and running off with Sane. "Do you think she joined?" Luna just chuckled, "Pretty sure. I hope we don't have to deal with that group again." I nodded, I didn't want to deal with any group, but of course I was with Amy's group. Or was I?
It was the last day of 12th Grade for me, my teacher gave me an errand to go to the 10th Grade, "Isn't that where Amy lurks?" Luna asked, and I nodded as she groaned. I got to the class and she told me to give the item to Amy, that she must have dropped it. Luna wasn't to happy with me having to give it to Amy. But I found Amy anyways - who seemed happy to see me - and showed her the time. "You must have dropped this, you need to take it back to your locker." She nodded, thanked me, and ran to her locker. Alec was already there, and I went to follow her - however when I got to the locker a boy bumped into me. He glared at me and told me to watch it angrily, "You need to be more careful." Was all I said, I had no intentions on starting a fight. "Hi! I'm Amy!" Amy said to him, I looked at her hoping she wouldn't get hurt. He just looked at her, then Tessa came up, "He-Ayayaya!! Whose the new boy?" He looked at her and she went back against the locker, "I'm Dominic." Paige came up right then and he looked her up and down and then smiled, "Why, you're cute." Paige smiled and waved, "Hi... and thank you..." He nodded and Amy had a lightbulb, "How about you join our group!" Alec didn't look to sure, "You sure Ams?" Dominic looked at Amy - who nodded - then Paige, "Is she in it?" Amy nodded and then Dominic smirked, "Alright." And that is how we got Dominic.
I was sitting on a bench In the streets, it was still daylight. Me and Luna were enjoying ourselves, alone. I had some black coffee, we were talking and getting along for the very first time in years, for the very first time since I met Amy. "You can have more good times with me like this once you ditch Amy too!" She said after I commented on it. "But it won't be all fun in games, remember. We still have our mission to do." I nodded, becoming serious once again. Then, Amy skipped up, she eyed me and sat down. "Hey! There you are, I haven't seen you in awhile. It's the end of the year, aren't you happy? Have you found your dream yet? I mean, you're going to college aren't you?" I just looked at her, "I'm not sure if I'm going to college." Even though I already knew, I had no money to get into college. "Oh, okay. I would recommend it! Hey is that black coffee?" She asked and I just nodded. "Oh, I like it sweet, why don't you try some sweet coffee." I shook my head, "I've tried it. I don't like it, the coffee's to sweet for my liking. This black coffee is black and bitter like my heart, and nothing can change it." She looked at me, "But, to make your coffee sweet, all you have to add is some cream and sugar right? So maybe you can change your heart!" I looked at her with shock before looking around, "Where are your friends?" Amy thought for a minute, "Tessa's at a big bicycle competition, Paige is at her house because her parents wanted her home early, Alec said he was going to go somewhere, and... yeah." I nodded, "I see. Well, I better be getting home." She nodded, "see ya later!"
It wasn't to long that I found people asking me if I was going to college. One day, an adult asked me, and I looked them in the eyes. "I have no money." She frowned and shooed me off, and then next thing I know the Principal at the College is telling me I'm going to college. When I told him I couldn't pay, he said it was all covered. I remembered the woman I told that I had no money and just nodded. "Can't wait to see you!" I just waved him off, "Luna, do you hear that? I guess I'm going to College.." Luna sighed, "We're not making any friends in College either, alright?" I nodded, "Amy is my only friend, and maybe not even Amy." Luna chuckled, "Alright." When we got to the front step of College we bumped into a teacher waiting outside, "Welcome! Welcome, you new? Anyways, what are your dreams little missy?" I shook my head, "I have none. I guess I'll just get whatever degree needed in college to get a good job at least." I just looked at him, "Except, we're not going to get a job. You don't plan on it do you?" I looked at the guy and replied in my mind, "I don't plan on it." The guy eyed me for a minute then smiled, "You need a 2 year degree first off, associate degree. Go on in." He smiled and opened the door for me, I accepted and went in.
The College day went by fast, everybody asked each other what there dream was, some asked me but I gave the same reply: "I have no dreams," they would look at me like I was stupid then go onto their other friends. Nobody tried to talk to me, Luna was glad for that. On my way home, Amy found me. "How was your first day of College?" I just nodded, "That's good! 11th grade is good so far." I nodded again, "Have you found your dream yet?" I shook my head. "Why aren't you talking?" I sighed, "I just don't feel like talking.." Amy smiled, "Your pretty voice..." I looked at her, "Sorry! I just was imagining... your voice, it always sounded like a mature Lolla to me.. Never mind, I'm going home, see ya later Layla!" I watched as she ran off, tripped but kept balance, and kept running until she disappeared from my view. "Well, looks like we're not exactly rid of Amy yet. We won't be for awhile..." I nodded and finally got home, my brother was happy to see me.
Things went by quickly, them 2 years went by fast. After the 2 years of college I went to 2 more years. Amy kept visiting and Luna kept killing. After them 4 years went by, I was 22, and Amy was 18. Amy was in college with me by now. One more year and I would have to leave Amy. One day, Amy and friends and me were hanging out at the Library. Suddenly, the door bell rang as someone came in and Amy gaped at the door. I looked back and saw a miniature me, "Lolla!" Amy said happily as she ran towards her, the librarian looked at her meanly. "Hey Lolla! It's been so long, you haven't changed much. People say I have, did you get my letters? What about my outfit? Why'd didn't you reply? Is everything okay? I miss you so much, did you miss me? Oh! By the way, I became a Fashion Designer, not that high of a rank yet but... I'm getting there!! Have you become a Zoologist Lolla? Is being a Zoologist still your dreams?" Lolla just looked at her, "I lost my dreams awhile ago." Amy looked sad, "Oh, well, you'll get them back someday!" Dominic stood up roughly and went over to her, "Amy, come on." Amy shook her head, "I'm talking to Lolla, she's my frie-" Dominic glared at Lolla, "It seems like she doesn't want to talk to you, come on!" Amy waved bye to her friend and went back to the table. After awhile of talking, each of us had to go home. "Come back to this library everyday after school, I'll meet ya here, alright?" Lolla just looked at her as we all went out.
Each and everyday we went to the Library, Amy would talk to Lolla for quite some time before coming over to converse with us. Lolla wouldn't say much to her, from what I hear. One day, Amy came in - Lolla wasn't there so she sat down. When Lolla came in she went to Amy's side of the table, "Can I sit here?" Amy looked at her, "You're wearing my outfit I made for you!" She said happily, "Of course you can sit down!" Dominic groaned and walked away angrily. "What's his problem?" Amy asked confusedly. "He doesn't like Lolla." Alec said, "Well he can get over it!" Amy said angrily, most of us went wide-eyed - Amy never got that hateful. Alec put both of his headphones in his ears and turned it up to drown everything out. Tessa went back to drawing a sketch of her bicycle, and Paige went back to reading. Amy tried to get Lolla in the conversation with other people a few times, but she would mostly only talk to Amy. Dominic would leave the table everyday that Lolla came, which soon grew to be all the time everyday. Amy got mad everytime he did, but it was clear nobody else really like Lolla here except Paige - but Paige liked everyone. To tell the truth, I didn't like Lolla right now, and she's my own Cousin. Should I feel bad for it? "No."
One day, Amy mentioned something about the beach. "Yeah! The Beach, we should all go! It'll be fun, we can play beach ball, swim, play in the sand... come on!" Tessa jumped up and agreed first off, "Yeah! It'll be fun, I haven't been to the beach in awhile!" She looked at Paige who smiled gently, "Yea... let's... let's go." Paige said softly. "Sure, I don't see why not." Alec said calmly. I looked at them, "Please come Layla, it wouldn't be the same without you." Amy said, "Don't you do it Layla! I'll punish you, it's been years since I have punished you!" I nodded to Amy who squealed happily. "Oh Layla, if you have to much fun you'll be punished for sure." I understood, I agreed with Luna - I would go with the punishment even though I hated it. Being cooped up in prison in dreams was upsetting, especially at night when me and Luna could be talking the night away until morning reached. I haven't had the punishment in about 6 years, now we'll probably start this ongoing punishment once again. I hoped it wouldn't be as bad as when I first met Amy. Lolla looked at Amy, "I guess I'll come, if you'll be there." Amy smiled and Tessa looked around, "We need Dominic! Paige, Dominic likes you, go ask him!" Paige looked at Dominic who was over leaning on a bookshelf, "I don't want to... force him if.. if he doesn't..." Tessa shook her head, "Just go! Do it for us, don't you want him to come?" Paige looked down, "Alright... I-I'm going." She ran off, stumbling and almost falling. A few minutes later she came back with Dominic, "H-he's coming." She said. "Then we'll meet at the beach this Saturday!" Amy said and we all left.
That Saturday we all met up at the beach, Lolla was a little late and Dominic went bad-mouthing her saying she wouldn't come - Amy was sure she would - and sure enough she arrived which made Dominic shut his mouth. We all were in our bathing suits, except Paige who had clothes on top. She insisted on changing in a bathroom but Dominic and Tessa encouraged her to strip her clothes off out there, she finally did. Then we all went in the water, most of us went do different sides alone. Tessa and Paige were together, Alec was alone, Lolla was alone, Dominic was alone although he was kind of close to Tessa and Paige, and I was alone. Amy seemed unhappy on land, and next thing we know Amy's throwing a ball at Tessa: "Everyone come on and play!" We all joined in as Tessa threw the blown up ball to Amy - who had crashed into the water and was barely able to hit it. Soon, Lolla was hit in the head with it, as it bounced off she looked over and hit it and it went all the way to Amy. "Come on Lolla!" Amy yelled, Lolla swam over and Dominic swam off. We played Beach Ball for a little while longer before we got out because Tessa was getting wrinkles and Paige wanted out when Tessa was out - and I wasn't going to play forever and three people playing beach ball wasn't enough for two teams.
Paige then suggested we do Sand Castles, which Alec backed us up to give him so room so he could make his own. "I got this.." With a quick movement of his hands, dust rising everywhere, in about 8 seconds a large sand castle was built. He seemed proud, and Paige was sad that she couldn't make one like that "I wish I could make one like that, how do you do it? It's so good.." so Alec quickly taught her how. "I'm good because I like building stuff, I used to do arts and crafts..." All of us started making sandcastles, except me - I was out on this one, even Lolla was participating. Amy was proud of them all, and was sad when she saw I didn't make one. Then all of us lined up to the sidewalk where we met, "Where's our next meeting?" Dominic and Amy looked at Paige, "We haven't gone to Paige's house, Paige, let's go to your house!" Amy said excitedly. Paige shook her head, "Uhm, no, I-I don't think you can... there's so many of you... and... my parents are strict.. I..." Dominic came up, "Please Paige!" Tessa nodded, "Come on!" Paige looked down and sighed, "I-I gotta ask my parents." Dominic took out his phone and gave Paige his number, "I need all your numbers... If they say Yes I'll text you." We all nodded, except for me and Lolla who just looked at her. We all exchanged numbers and then we all went home.
I got home and Luna was unusually quiet. "What is it Luna?" I asked, looking up at the ceiling. "You're becoming closer, especially to Amy." I shook my head, "I'm not, I won't get to close, I promise." I heard coughing then chuckles, "You can't deny it Layla, you're becoming attached. Do I have to stop you from seeing her now? Or can you make it this last year and then be done with it after?" I looked at the other side of the room, on the floor was a coffee can. "Do not ignore me, answer me Layla!!" Luna seemed angry, I closed my eyes and then sighed, "I can do this. I'm not going to get myself attached, I'll leave soon. My last years almost up anyways, I better start edging away. Maybe at one point they won't notice me at all, so then I can leave and they won't notice my absence. Maybe they'll get new friends to replace me, I have no doubt in my mind that they won't miss me." I opened my eyes and looked at the lightbulb which wasn't working lately. At least it wasn't dark outside, it was still fairly light and the window light dimmed the room just right. "Mark my words Layla, if you get any closer you're going to get to attached. And then what happens? You don't want to leave, and if you do leave you won't forget them. They'll stay in your little heart, what heart you have anyways. It should still be as dark as night, not one red speck of love. if this happens, I will leave you, you will be free from me. You will be able to stay with them, but not with me. Just remember." I nodded, "I'll remember. I'll leave." I said with my usual tone.
Not to long after I got home I had a text from Paige saying: 'My Mom and Dad says it's okay, you can come over for 2 hours.' so I walked out the door without saying anything to my brother, who seemed to be doing his homework. When I got there, everyone else was there except Lolla - but that didn't mean anything because ever since she joined the group she has always been the last to arrive at meetings. We hung out for awhile, eating some chicken strips that the Mom had finished making when I got there. Paige had run Dominic away from Lolla's chicken strips. I just stayed back and spoke when spoken to, Paige has a dog named Pages. At one point Tessa was looking around the house, and when she came back she asked where Joey was. Paige looked down sadly, "He's... just... he's uhm.. not... here anymore... don't worry about it..." Tessa looked angry, "Not worry about it?! Paige!! That was your brother, you loved him! What the hell happened to him!!?" Paige shook her head and tears flew everywhere and dropped in the air, Tessa stopped and turned soft. "I'm sorry Paige..." She said and Paige smiled, "It's okay Tess." Lolla came finally, Paige showed her the food and she started eating with a thank you.
Amy soon started a brand new subject. "What are all your dreams?" Everybody looked at her and thought for a minute, Tessa was first to blurt out her dream - which we all knew. "I'm going to be a famous bicycler! And after that, I'll make nic-nacs at stores and sell them!" She chuckled as she put her balled fist to her mouth as in 'haha yes!'. Paige looked around, "I was thinking... a toy maker... or ... or a writer." Tessa gasped and threw her arms out as she jumped up and smiled at Paige. "Yes! A Story Writer! I love your stories!" Dominic laughed, "Are they good? I'd like to see them sometime..." Tessa nodded, "They're good, but fairly weird. They're really fanatasy-like. For example, the first book of a small story series she wrote was about two twin fisherman that went to live near a lake. The very next day they moved in the lake dried up, and a fairy came up and told them they needed to save the sacred lake! They had to save it from 3 evil witches, one witch to a book, and a dog. My favorite part in one of the books was the stupid twin was fishing and saved a girl from drowning in the lake. The girl was all over him and thought she was in love with him so when he brought her home the smart brother and his friend was surprised. 'Why did you kidnap this poor girl?' said the smart brother, 'And why isn't she screaming?' said the friend. It was hilarious!" We all listened and Paige looked down nervously, "It's not that good.."
"I want to be a designer, you know how I do my arts and crafts. Maybe I can design something new that people would enjoy around the world." Alec said with a slight smile, "I might as well join in, I'd like to be an engineer." Said Dominic leaning back against the wall with his arms crossed behind his head and feet crossed propped up on the table where our food was laying. "I don't really have any dreams, I've told Amy this but I don't know about you guys." I said as I looked at Paige, "Do you have any coffee? Black coffee preferably." Paige opened her mouth to speak and then a sweat bead went down her forehead, "No, I don't really drink coffee as well as my parents, we don't really make it at all." I nodded and continued drinking my water. Paige looked at Lolla and smiled, "What are your dreams Lolla?" She asked, Lolla looked at Paige blankly. "I've already told you, I lost my dreams awhile ago." Paige looked down and Amy frowned, "Alright..." Paige whispered, then her mom came in. "It's been about 2 hours." She said plainly, "So?" Dominic said as he rose up and looked at her, "Meaning it's time for you all to go, now bye!" She watched all of us walk out and then go back to what she was doing.
I got home and went to bed, and as expected I was in my little prison. I would be for a while, Luna wasn't happy with me for agreeing to go to the beach, top that off with going to Paige's house. I hugged my knees and buried my face in them while I listened to Luna mumble words in another language like she usually does when I'm imprisoned. "Akeloha gentehua jeguaru lolupin manulika stuhghi porleh..." she went on and I still wonder to this day, what was she saying? The next morning Luna was plainly ignoring me, she would usually say something in the morning to get me going but she said nothing today. I went to school, asking if it would be better to go on 2 more years, "Of course! The more years you are in college the better degree you have, that means the better job you can have!" A happy teacher said to me, I just nodded and walked away. "Here I go with 2 more years of college...." Luna was silent. I went through the day silently as always.
When Amy came up to me - as well as the group - Lolla was missing. "She said she wanted to bring her brother to the group." Amy claimed, Dominic groaned - even though Lolla was more talkative, nicer, and less-ignorative he still hated her, probably because of all the pain she put Amy through - I nodded and a few minutes later Lolla came up with a boy that looked ridiculously unlike her. Paige looked at him and gasped, dropping her notebook on the ground, her eyes welled up with tears and a smile claimed her lips. The boy took one look at Paige and smiled as well. They ran to each other and hugged, "Oh Joey! I'm so sorry, I wish you didn't have to go! I'm sorry we threw you out, I've regretted the day of not telling my parents no, not telling them to let you stay, I've missed you so much!" She cried, tears streaming down her face. "I missed you to Big Sis." He smiled at her and she let go. "Well, at least you're in a good home!" His smile faded and he looked away but recovered quickly. "Can I join the group?" He asked with a smile. "Of course you can." Amy said, "For Paige and Lolla!" We all cheered, except me and Lolla and Paige was soft about it.
After that Joey had been hanging out with us. And then my brother came up to me later on in the school year, it was about in the middle, towards the second semester. It was after school, he looked at me with hope, "I want to meet your group! You have friends right? I'm having trouble making my own friends, so maybe I can befriend yours!" I looked at him, went to say 'They're not my friends' but decided not to. I sighed, "Come on." I led him to the leaving area where Amy and her friends stood, once he saw them he ran up, tripped and fell. Then he greeted them on the ground. I shook my head, I knew he did it on purpose, he was very steady and I knew he was going to be the group clown if he joined. With his lame jokes and sucky taste of humor. I finally went up to them as Amy was saying yes to his question to join the group. He looked at me and smiled, I just nodded, and ever since then, he has been in our group as well. Maybe he'll replace me.
The rest of the year went by quickly, I still have no dream - Luna's still thankful for that - no dream demons overcome Amy or the other, Amy's still my 'friend' and Luna's still killing. It's about time for me to leave Amy, I'm 23 now, Amy is 19. I'm not attached to anyone, except maybe Amy - but I can't tell Luna that, I don't even want to admit it to myself. I've been thinking about the deal with Luna, she's gone with it like she said she would and now it's my turn. I'm supposed to leave Amy, if I don't I lose Luna. Any day now, if I don't drive myself away from them, Amy could get hurt. So I know I got to leave Amy, but it's easier said then done. I'd rather become soulless than leave her, but I'd rather die than leave Luna. So the big question for me to answer to any of you here now, is can I leave her... will I succeed... will we part forever.... or will Luna be gone from my dreams?

Luna The Winged Moon Reaper
SELLING OUR SOULS FOR NO REASON. WE ALL MUST BE
I was alone, I was always alone. I had no family, that I knew of anyways. Nobody was there for me, I had to live in my dream by myself. With no other dream demons, I had no social activity. That's why I was so cold to other, I didn't know how to act. It hurts me when I see somebody having fun with a sister or brother, or simple parents. But I ignore the pain and bear through it. I made it where nobody could get close to me, so I became full of hate, turning my heart black as coal, as well as my soul. Nobody could ever love me, trust me, befriend me, and I liked it. As I grew up I became more hostile, I would attempt to travel to other dreams but it would always fail. It's pretty sad huh? Well don't pity me! I hate being pitied! I known it's sad, just leave me alone.
One day, I was visited in my dream by another. I had been sitting there when I heard a noise, how someone snuck in without me knowing, without me inviting them in, I don't know. But I knew someone was there. I heard a loud voice, a voice directed towards me, "Oh, you're so lonely and pitiful aren't you?" I looked around angrily, "Who the hell are you?! Where are you?!" I heard that laugh, "Come find me!" I jumped off my tree and started looking behind others. "You want a family don't you?" I felt anger rush through me, what the hell did the person know? "Well you have family, a sister." I stopped and perked up, "Keep going." I said as I tapped my scythe with four fingers impatiently. "Her name is Mirrikh. She's a reaper like you, although she's not winged or combined with the moon, but still a reaper. That's why you must be sisters, because of that connection! She actually has a winged skeleton hanging around with her." I looked down, "How are you sure she's my sister by that..." I wanted to believe it, it's true. "Believe it or not, but it's true! Maybe you'll find her some day!" I looked around, "Come out you bastard! Stop playing with me!" I heard the voice again, "Me? A bastard?! Ah, you went a little to far, come find this bastard you're talking to then!" I ran out at the tree in front of me, and a black hooded figure jumped in front of me. "There you are, there's the bastard I'm looking for!" I said with a smirk, "What are you hiding under that hood?" It moved back, "Try and find out and see what happens."
I ran at the figure with my scythe and went to slash, but the figure jumped on my blade and flipped off behind me. I quickly turned around and slashed again, but the person jumped and kicked me in the face. I stepped back and ran at them again, but they swerved the other way, around me, and kicked me in the side. I turned towards them and jumped up, I was bringing my scythe down upon them. But, there was a loud screeching noise and my scythe broke, it was just the handle now. They stopped the handle from hitting their head with two fingers, which it got caught between. They laughed at me, they were mocking me. I swung my handle around left and right but the person kept dodging whether it was jumping, ducking or moving swiftly. "That's enough!" They screamed and reached their hands out and did this weird moving motions with their fingers. "You've done enough damage you reckless demon don't you think? Now let us watch you dissolve into the dark and go in the moon to sink! It won't take long just give us a second so here we go with just a wink! You're existence is gone there's no more you it's all written down in invisible ink!" They put their hands back and then jerked them forward at me, and I was blown up through the sky and hit the moon.
I heard them laugh and then fade, I was on my moon. I looked down and saw my dream, but I couldn't get down. Sitting down I started crying, but then I told myself to stop. I would not cry, I would never cry! I would do whatever it took to get out of here. I tried everything, but nothing worked. I was stuck on that moon for about 6 years. I don't remember much of my past before I was up there, I had forgotten everything except my enemy - I had forgotten everything my enemy had said to me also. When I had been free from the moon in my dream, I remember falling off and landing on the top of a tree, my scythe appearing in my hands newly repaired and fixed. I decided I would get to that Witch, I would get revenge. I turned cruel, heartless. Nothing would stand in my way.
I entered someone else in my dream, Layla Karha Jade."Hello there young one, I am Luna the Winged Moon Reaper. I am your Dream Demon, I have arrived from another world unknown to you except at night. As you might guess, the Dream World. I have stumbled upon you it seems, maybe on purpose or maybe on accident. Now, I will take you as my Vessel." I pointed my scythe at her threateningly, however she was not phased. "Vessel? Tell me more, I might be able to help." She replied back with a cold gaze. "You seem not afraid of me, that is a first my dear child. However, do not take me for granted, I can sense the tiny bit of fear in your heart. It will soon make your skin crawl and terrorize your whole being. Now, as for being my Vessel... to get to your world, reality, I need to take over your body. We will become one, although we are already." I said as I adjusted my scythe outwards with one delicate hand. "It seems interesting," She ignored the talk about fear, "What do you mean we are already one?" I sighed and then smirked, "You know so little, I guess I must inform you before I begin the procedure." I looked up at the sky, "We are already one because you have entered my Dream.
"Last question," I looked at me quite impatiently, I was about to take over before she could say it. But I guess I would let her speak, she stood her ground. "What happens if I let myself be your Vessel?" I laughed coldheartedly, "If? If? You have no choice - but still - I will be able to see what you see, I can enter your thoughts and if I want to I can take you over completely and control you. Now come here!" I took a step forward and she smirked, I stopped and looked at her with little shock - but still shock. "Alright, this whole thing seems fun so I'll join in. I'll be your Vessel, but you'll have to help me take care of myself and my brother. We're dying, our parents left us." I glared at me, "You have feelings for someone?" She shook my head, "No! It's just--" She seemed frantic, I found that she loved her brother. I just nodded hastily, "Whoever your brother is, do not let him get in my way." She just nodded, I sounded hateful as ever and she cringed a tiny bit there, much to my pleasure. "I won't Luna. ... by the way, what do you wish to accomplish by coming into the real world?" I ran at her - she did not finch, cringe or cry - and then Ismirked, "To get revenge on who imprisoned me in my own Dream."
that was the beginning of me a Layla's bond. Layla did what I told her to. After killing my first demon in the first day dream we had, I realized I had to make day dreams of my own to reach the one who trapped me. I have been ever since. Layla got to know more about me as we went on, she didn't have much to tell me. By now she knows almost everything about me. We actually got... close. Until we moved to another town, then she started making friends. I tried to stop her, but she resisted me. At first I put her in punishment everytime she tried to make a friend, but it was no use. After a big fight with Layla because of Amy, I almost left her side, but we made a deal in the end. She's been hanging out with Amy and them since then, I'm keeping an eye on her, I will destroy them if she gets to close to them. I've come close to destroying Amy and PrimRose a few times, but Layla always managed to draw back and save them. They got lucky. Our deal is coming to an end, she is 23, and she is supposed to leave Amy. She doesn't have long, I agree we've been through a lot but that doesn't make things any different. I will eliminate Amy and PrimRose, and anybody else that gets in my way, if I have to. Layla better make her decision, and choose wisely. I'm going to do whatever it takes to kill the Witch.

I DON’T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE BORN TO BE KILLERS
I have no dreams, or I don't think so. With Luna around, I'm not allowed to have dreams. I am dreamless, and I will always be like this. I've been like this ever since I lost my parents, ever since I got Luna. It's a good thing to, that way if something happens to Luna I won't have any dreams to be crushed. Whoever asks me gets the same answer, "I have no dreams." and I swear it's the truth.
- - - - - - I don’t believe that this world can be saved
